Transcultural musical education
Andrés Hernández Alba completed his first guitar studies with Electo Díez García. Afterwards he studied with Wilhelm Bruck at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe in the main subject guitar as well as chamber music with Peter Eötvös and Zsolt Nagy. Parallel to his studies of classical guitar, he received flamenco training in Granada.In 1994 Andrés Hernández Alba founded the ALEPH guitar quartet with which he has premiered over 80 works. Since 2008 he has been a guest artist at the ZKM Hertz-Labor. He works intensively with composers, sound engineers and acousticians to advance the musical language and playing techniques of the 20th and 21st centuries.As a soloist and chamber musician, Andrés Hernández Alba has performed in the United States, Chile, Brazil, South Korea, Morocco and throughout Europe, among other countries. As a studio musician he has participated in numerous productions and performed, among others, with Toni el Pelao, Ishan Rmiki, José Parrondo, Antonio de la Malena, the orchestras of SWR, HR and Klangforum Wien. In 2016, he founded the transcultural orchestra MOSAIK of the Mannheim Municipal Music School.As a lecturer, he has taught at the Mannheim Municipal Music School, the Conservatory in Karlsruhe, the Trossingen Music Academy and the Popakademie in Mannheim, among others. He also conducts flamenco seminars and master classes at various universities such as the UdK Berlin, the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, and the Institute of Music of the Chung-Ang University, Seoul.
