YouTube and Popakademie renew long-standing collaboration

12. December 2022

Since the beginning of 2018, the Google subsidiary YouTube has been supporting bachelor and master students of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg with scholarships and other support measures. During the visit of Kiki Ganzemüller (Music Partnerships, Google) and Gudrun Schweppe (Head of Music DACH, YouTube), the cooperation, which has existed for 5 years, could now be extended again.

"Continuing the cooperation with YouTube means a lot to us. It offers our students direct support. In addition to scholarships, project and internship funding, the Popakademie also receives start-up funding for projects such as the successful Popakademie Sessions. Without YouTube support, this production would not be possible. We are happy and grateful to continue this extraordinary cooperation for another year," said Popakademie managing directors Michael Herberger and Prof. Udo Dahmen.

The focus of the YouTube sponsorship is on awarding study-related support that directly benefits students in the two departments of "Music and Creative Industries" and "Popular Music."

Scholarships such as the Deutschlandstipendium support outstanding achievements and innovative ideas. In addition, social factors play a decisive role in the awarding process. The "YouTube Futuremakers Funding," awarded by an expert jury consisting of representatives from the Pop Academy, YouTube, the music industry and the cultural scene, supports students of artistic degree programs with funding for the implementation of creative projects. The "YouTube Futuremakers Work Experience" provides financial support for students to carry out their compulsory internships as part of the business degree programs. Funding is also provided for the "Popakademie Sessions" of the Popakademie Project Workshop, the tour bus of the in-house artist agency KLINKT, and the established conference format "Future Music Camp."

"It is very close to our hearts to support young creative talent both on the side of the music makers and the music industry through concrete measures. We look back proudly on the five years we have spent together, during which we have already been able to support many great projects with financial support programs such as "YouTube Futuremakers Funding". We look forward to continuing our fruitful collaboration with the Popakademie in the future," says Kiki Ganzemüller (Music Partnerships, Google).
