Popakademie students at the 39th Mediterranean Film Festival
16. January 2025
Emre Yeşil is an up-and-coming German-Turkish indie pop singer who bridges the gap between two worlds with his unique blend of modern pop melodies and cultural influences from Turkey. His music combines catchy melodies with profound lyrics and appeals to both the older generation who grew up with classic Turkish songs and young listeners who are interested in innovative pop sounds.
He draws his artistic inspiration from the “Açık Koltuk” program of the renowned Turkish singer Zeynep Bastik, where he performed his song “Sevdamız” in 2020. He has set himself the goal of bringing German-Turkish community members in Germany closer together and promoting a sense of belonging and community. Through his music, he wants to create a space in which different generations and cultures can enter into dialog with each other. Emre Yeşil is currently studying for a Master's degree in Popular Music at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. He will be accompanied at this concert by Andre Haaf (keyboard), Jordi Doben (drums) and Eren Şanlı (bağlama). The band members are studying Popular Music M.A., Pop Music Design B.A. and Global Music B.A. at the Popakademie. The performance was arranged by the Popakademie's own agency for music services KLINKT, which has been helping Popakademie solo musicians, bands and producers to organize live events or projects in the field of music marketing since 2007. The agency for music services is thus the interface between the musicians of the Popakademie and the economy and society in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and beyond. The concert will take place on 24.01.25 at 8 pm at theatre at the Karlstorbahnhof Heidelberg. Tickets are available here.
