Popakademie informs about its study programmes

20. January 2021

On Saturday, 6 February 2021, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg will virtually open its doors to the public from 3 pm. Lecturers and programme managers from the departments of Popular Music and Music and Creative Industries will then provide information about the various degree programmes.

Due to the current situation, the event will take place online and can be accessed via our homepage.

The info day offers interested parties information about studying at the Popakademie via video presentations and zoom talks, as well as study advice from staff, lecturers and students. The focus is on the three Bachelor's degree programmes Pop Music Design, Music Business and World Music as well as the two Master's degree programmes Popular Music and Music & Creative Industries. In addition, the info day provides insights into the project and competence areas of the Popakademie.

From 3 pm, the two directors Prof. Udo Dahmen, Artistic Director, and Prof. Hubert Wandjo, Business Director, will present the Popakademie. Prof. Hubert Wandjo (Music Business B.A.) and Programme Manager Prof. David-Emil Wickström (Pop Music Design B.A. and World Music B.A.) will inform about the Bachelor's programmes. Taster lectures by Prof. Udo Dahmen and David Stammer, Project Manager Digital Innovation, offer a practical insight into the degree programmes. Prof. Nina Schneider (Music and Creative Industries M.A.) and Prof. Heiko Wandler (Popular Music M.A.) will provide information about the Master's programmes. Alex Wolf will introduce the Institute for Music and Creative Industries Practice and Nils Max will inform about the university's own artist agency KLINKT.

Prof. Annette Marquard (vocals), Thomas Lui Ludwig (drums), Prof. Peter Wölpl (guitar), Prof. Frank Itt (bass), Arno Müller (producing/DJing), Prof. Mathias "Maze" Leber (keyboard), Prof. Axel Schwarz (Pedagogy Popular Music/Educating Artist) and Prof. Alexander Päffgen (composition) are among the lecturers who will be available for individual consultation via the Zoom video conference platform.

Since 2003, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg has been the only state-run higher education institution in Germany to offer degree programmes in the fields of popular music and music and creative industries. During the Corona crisis, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg massively expanded its already existing online teaching offer, which means that excellent teaching, both in hybrid form and purely digital, is offered throughout. Online events regularly attract international audiences and different learning platforms serve students for exchange.
