Popakademie Acts at the Baden-Baden lebt Festival

14. June 2023

Open-Air with Thomas D, Nils Wülker and Max Mutzke
There is another new addition to the Baden-Baden Events program this year: a new location is being added to the series of open-air events. The Reinhard Fieser Bridge, adjacent to the Kurpark, will be the venue for the Baden-Baden Lives Festival (June 16th, 17th and 18th).

The musical spectrum is colorful, ranging from rap and hip-hop to jazz, rhythm & blues and pop. Created by jazz musician Konstantin Kölmel together with Baden-Baden Events, the festival will present popular musicians as well as young artists from the various musical worlds. There will be performances by well-known German jazz and pop stars such as Thomas D, Nils Wülker and Max Mutzke from the Fantastischen Vier, as well as young hip-hop stars such as the current No. 1 in the German charts, Ski Aggu.
The aim of the festival is to build musical bridges, get young people excited about jazz music and create new unique musical experiences.

The festival's kick-off (June 16th beginning at 6 p.m., standing room only) is dedicated to rap and hip-hop. Rap and R&B headliners Badchieff and Ski Aggu, who have been streamed millions of times, will impressively celebrate the festival motto "Baden-Baden lebt" on the opening night and, together with other young stars, will ring in the lively and diverse festival. With Ski Aggu, the current number 1 of the German Spotify charts comes to Baden-Baden.

Jazz, R&B & Rap is the theme on the second evening: jazz stars Nils Wülker and Max Mutzke will perform together with Wülker's renowned jazz band and rap legend Thomas D from the "Fantastischen Vier". This unique combination will fuse jazz and rap under the motto "Groove Summit" and together with the two drummers Oli Rubow and Simon Popp will create a unique concert experience. In addition to jazz classics like "Me and Mrs Jones", Fanta 4 hits like "Die Da!?!" will be heard. Also on Saturday evening, star drummer Anika Nilles, who was nominated for the German Jazz Award, will be heard first with her band "Nevell." The artistic director of the festival, drummer Konstantin Kölmel rounds off the lineup of the jazz day with his first-class band. This brings some of today's most exciting young stars such as Jakob Bänsch, Nikola Bankov and Justin Zitt together on the Baden-Baden stage (June 17th starts at 6 p.m., limited seating available).

The last day of the festival is themed "Bands for free" with musicians* from the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg with free admission (start 11 am). The concrete line-up can be found at www.badenbadenevents.

Tickets for the Baden-Baden lives Festival on June 16th and 17th cost €32, youths/young adults/students up to 25 years (admission from six years) pay €25. On Sunday, the festival grounds are free to enter. Admission is from 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and drinks and food are available on the festival grounds on all three days.
