International Band and Business Camp 2023 in Hammelburg, Germany

03. March 2023

International Band & Business Camp 2023 in Hammelburg unites students and coaches from all over the world.
More than 80 students and coaches from six different countries participated in the International Band & Business Camp 2023 (IBBC) in Hammelburg. Yesterday, March 2nd, the one-week camp came to its crowning conclusion with a great final concert.

"Once again this year, the IBBC brought together young, creative people from different countries to learn from and inspire each other. It was great to see how the participants developed in an international environment," says Udo Dahmen, artistic director of the Popakademie.
The participants of the band camp had the opportunity to deepen their music knowledge and skills in an intercultural environment. Under the guidance of experienced band coaches, they worked in groups on songwriting projects, formed bands and prepared musical pieces together, which they presented live at the final concert.
The business camp offered the students an insight into the music industry and taught them industry-specific core competencies. The individual groups in the business game acted as virtual record companies and competed with each other. The goal was to find the most successful band or songwriting project from the band camp. The international team of experts simulated a virtual music market and confronted the business groups with various scenarios that required quick reactions.
The IBBC 2023 participants:came from various institutions, including the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in Mannheim, the Herman Brood Academie in Utrecht, the Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin, the Fontys Rockacademie in Tilburg, the Linnaeus University in Kalmar, the Leeds Conservatoire in Leeds and the Columbia College in Chicago.
The International Band & Business Camp has been held regularly at the Bavarian Music Academy Hammelburg since 2005. It was launched by the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg as a joint project with various partner institutions to bring students together in an intercultural and international network.
