The Global Music B.A. degree program goes on an information tour

Prof. Dr. David-Emil Wickström, project manager Lisa Tuyala, and various lecturers from the Popakademie will be presenting the bachelor's degree program in Global Music in various cities across Germany over the coming weeks.
After a successful start in Berlin and Munich, the next stop on the tour is on Tuesday, February 17, at the Kaserne Basel. Derya Yıldırım will lead a workshop there starting at 5:30 p.m. on the topic of “Bağlama in the Present.”She will provide special insights into new playing techniques and give visitors an understanding of the use of the bağlama in popular music. The workshop also offers the opportunity to get to know Derya Yıldırım better as a person. Of course, workshop visitors are also invited to participate and try out various instruments. It is also possible to bring your own instruments.
Following the workshop, Prof. Dr. David-Emil Wickström will give an interactive info talk on the bachelor's programs in Popular Music Design and Global Music at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg starting at 7:30 p.m.
No registration is required for the entire evening. Anyone who is interested and open to trying something new is welcome to drop by spontaneously.For those who want to see Derya Yıldırım on stage again and in her element, there will be an opportunity to do so on Thursday, February 19, starting at 8 p.m. On this evening, Derya Yıldırım and her band Grup Şimşek will be guests at the Kaserne Basel and will enchant the audience. There will also be an information stand from the Popakademie on this evening.The event continues on Thursday, March 5, at the Rotunde Bochum. In cooperation with the Bochum Music School, an exciting and varied evening program will take place there.
It begins at 5 p.m. with an exciting info talk and then moves on to a workshop phase, in which Joannie Labelle and Nihat Iman invite participants to get involved themselves. Joannie Labelle is a lecturer at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Nihat Iman is a graduate of the Global Music program and an active musician and educator. The workshops (percussion and baglama) will take place simultaneously from 6 to 7 p.m.
Starting at 7:15 p.m., there will be a discussion with Joannie Labelle, Nihat Iman, and Tugrul Türken, moderated by Prof. Dr. David-Emil Wickström. The topics will include the current relevance, joys, and challenges of studying music, as well as the career prospects for graduates. The evening will conclude with a joint jam session.
In cooperation with the Federation of Alevi Youth in Germany (BDAJ), a bağlama workshop with Kenan Tülek will take place on March 14 in Augsburg and on March 28 in Nuremberg. He gives regular workshops at the Oriental Music Academy Mannheim (OMM). Since 2015, he has also been teaching in the Global Music program at the Popakademie.
Afterwards, there will be another info talk with Lisa Tuyala on both evenings. She will give the audience an insight into studying at the Popakademie.In Augsburg, the workshop will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. and the information session from 5 to 5:45 p.m. In Nuremberg, the workshop will start at 4 p.m. and the information session at 6 p.m.
