14. December 2022
Until March 17th 2023, students between the ages of eleven and 21 can submit their music for the SONGS songwriting competition of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Prizes in kind worth a total of up to 10,000 euros will be awarded among the best entries. SONGS is the only songwriting competition for students in Baden-Württemberg and is sponsored by the Stiftung Bildung und Soziales der Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg.
Whether pop, rap, electro or rock, as a duo, solo or with a whole band - SONGS gives students from Baden-Württemberg the chance to bring their own SONGS to the big stage. Students between the ages of eleven and 21 can apply together with an institution, e.g. a school, a music school or a youth center. Prizes in kind will be awarded to the three best SONGS, which will provide the institutions with musical equipment. In addition, the winners will receive professional coaching at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. The Popakademie also offers a one-day vocal camp for all finalists.
At the SONGS finale on May 12, 2023 at the SpardaWelt Eventcenter in Stuttgart, selected participants will present their submitted SONGS live in front of a jury of experts. The jury consists of Eva Sauter (musician, winner of SONGS 2017), Prof. Udo Dahmen (Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg), Andreas Küchle (Head of Marketing at Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg), and Michelle Leonard (artist, publisher and songwriter). A free advanced training course on songwriting/producing will be offered for teachers at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg on January 19th 2023.
