YouTube and Popakademie extend collaboration

16. December 2024

YouTube and the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg are extending their successful collaboration: YouTube funding includes the awarding of scholarships for Popakademie students. The cooperation in the field of AI is also being expanded: YouTube provides support in teaching and knowledge transfer in relation to the use of generative AI tools for students, and now an AI project in the SMIX.LAB is also being funded.

“Supporting the Popakademie and its students is particularly important to us. By extending our collaboration, we not only want to promote creativity, but also continue to explore and advance the entire spectrum of artificial intelligence (AI) in the music sector. We are convinced that AI will play a central role in the future of the music industry - and innovation and responsibility must always be closely aligned.” - Kiki Ganzemüller, Manager, EMEA Music Partnerships, Google.

“We are delighted that YouTube is supporting our students again this year,” says Derek von Krogh, Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie. “This support allows students to focus even more on their studies and reliably leads to better performance and even more commitment to the various projects at the academy.”

“Since 2018, YouTube has supported our students with almost 100 scholarships in various programs. We are delighted that this successful collaboration is now being extended and that AI projects from our SMIX.LAB are also being supported,” says Managing Director and Business Director Michael Herberger.
Scholarships such as the Deutschlandstipendium support outstanding achievements and innovative ideas. The Futuremakers Funding program supports students in artistic activities: For example, video and audio recordings, stage productions or a tour are funded.
YouTube is also funding a research project in the SMIX.LAB under the direction of David Stammer (Projektmanagement Digital Innovation). Here, the toolboard created in 2023 to visualize the use of applications for AI-supported music production in the music business is being expanded and further developed https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVM8uA-30=/ In addition, further AI tools in the field of music marketing are being evaluated.
