Popakademie hosts second HipHop Symposium

05. November 2024

On Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg is hosting the second HipHop Symposium. The line-up includes Samy Deluxe, Megaloh, Torch, Mine, Marvin Game, Heidi Süß, Josi Miller, Bazzazian, Lina Burghausen, Finna and many more.

“I am delighted to be able to follow up one of the most memorable events in the history of the Popakademie with the second Hiphop Symposium.
In celebration of 50 years of hip-hop in 2023, visitors can look forward to a particularly broad-based event this time: from the beginnings to the present day, from up-and-coming talent to big, established names, from an academic perspective to very close to practice. Whether street art or cypher, whether linguistic observation or discussion about the social role of hip hop, the program promises a wide variety of perspectives. With various concerts, keynotes, panels and workshops, we want to look at hip-hop culture in all its facets, analyze it, sometimes question it, but above all celebrate it in the appropriate form at the end of the day. Not only our students at the Popakademie are invited to attend, but also the general public,” says Derek von Krogh, Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.

The second HipHop Symposium is being held in cooperation with the Alte Feuerwache Mannheim and the Leibniz Institute for the German Language; the media partner is DasDing. The project is supported by the Initiative Musik with funds from the Federal Government Commission for Culture and the Media.

Participation is free of charge, registration for the two days is requested. Information, program and registration can be found here.
