Panic Prize 2024
15. April 2024
The Udo Lindenberg Foundation is awarding the Panic Prize for the eighth time. Bands and musicians can apply until Thursday, May 30th 2024. On Saturday, July 6th 2024, the winners will be chosen at the live audition at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.
We are looking for artists who do not swim with the mainstream and intervene in current topics. The conditions of participation are that the texts should be predominantly in German and the applicants must not have a major deal. A jury chaired by Udo Lindenberg will select six finalists from all submissions, who will then compete against each other live at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. This is where the three winners will be chosen. The jury also includes Derek von Krogh (Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie), Prof. Udo Dahmen (former Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie ), Beatrice Reszat (singer, songwriter and author), Sarah Lesch (artist), Stefanie Hempel (artist), Rita Flügge Timm (managing director and owner of DolceRita Music & Publishing), Jennifer Belger (Senior Creative Manager and A&R Dolce Rita Music & Publishing), Henrik Menzel (music producer), Jem Seifert (music producer), Ben Streubel (SWR3), Noah Fischer (saxophonist, member of the ULS board of trustees) and Arno Köster (Udo Lindenberg Foundation). All finalists will receive 2,500 euros, the three Panic Prize winners 5,000 euros each and individual coaching at the Popakademie.
Once again, Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw is offering a special prize of 1,000 euros to encourage young people to engage with the writer's work. The application is independent of the Panic Prize and is also possible individually, as is participation in both competitions.
The four winners will perform at the Hermann Hesse Festival in Hirsau Monastery in July 2024, together with Sarah Lesch and Deine Cousine. Both have already won the Panic Prize and have earned themselves an excellent reputation. Tickets for the festival are available for 55 EUR and 35 EUR at Eventim.
Band information, photos, videos and all relevant streaming links can be uploaded at www.panikpreis.de until Thursday, May 30, 2024.
