Work in Progress Club on June 22

Hybrid live concert of the Popakademie for World Refugee Day

20. June 2022

On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, the Work in Progress Club will take place at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg starting at 8 pm. The event takes place in cooperation with and for the benefit of UN Refugee Aid, in view of World Refugee Day on June 20 and the #withrefugees campaign.

"For many years, the Popakademie has been an institution of tolerance and freedom for all who study, lecture or work at our institution - regardless of their origins, backgrounds, religious or ideological beliefs and sexual orientation. We therefore dedicate this Work in Progress Club to World Refugee Day and show our solidarity with all those who oppose racism and the restriction of tolerance," explains Prof. Udo Dahmen, Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.

The concert with students from the artistic department of the Popakademie will take place live and will be streamed in parallel. Juli Gilde, Victor Rodriguez, EMBER TALES, KUMA, NINI IVY and the Pop Choir of the Popakademie will perform. The concert will raise awareness for the work of the UN Refugee Agency.

"The Popakademie is a great partner for the UN Refugee Agency. With the concert for World Refugee Day, the musicians stand together with us on the side of the 100 million refugees worldwide, we stand together #withrefugees - everywhere and always . We are very much looking forward to committed artists and their music," says Peter Ruhenstroth-Bauer, Executive Director of UN Refugee Assistance Germany.

About UN Refugee Aid
UN Refugee Aid is the German partner of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). It mobilizes civil society, supports UNHCR's global, life-saving missions and projects for refugees in Germany.

June 20 is World Refugee Day.
More than 100 million people are currently on the run. Therefore, again in 2022, on June 20, the special strength, courage and resilience that refugees, internally displaced persons and stateless people bring up every day will be honored.
