Claude Cowork
AI-Assisted File and Document Management
Claude is an AI assistant from Anthropic designed for text generation, analysis, research, and brainstorming. Through its chat interface (web, mobile, desktop), users can compose texts, analyze data, and summarize documents. With Claude Cowork, the assistant gains access to local folders and programs and independently performs multi-step tasks, from reading and editing to creating files. Cowork can handle a wide variety of file types: For example, it reads and writes Excel spreadsheets (such as for tour dates, release schedules, splits, or metadata lists), builds finished presentations (such as pitch decks or release overviews), and even accesses code files when needed. This is useful, for example, when data exports from distributor or streaming systems need to be processed or when scripts for recurring analyses need to be adapted. While the chat version primarily provides advice and content, Cowork handles the actual implementation on the computer. The tool is well-suited for knowledge work in the music business where recurring or document-heavy processes need to be automated. In addition to Cowork, Anthropic offers other specialized tools: With Claude Design, design tasks can be completed directly in the chat, such as initial drafts for artwork layouts, social media assets, or pitch materials. Claude Code is designed for working directly with code and handles programming tasks independently, from the terminal to desktop and mobile apps.Similar tools: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft CopilotUse case: Before a release, a labeling team uses Cowork to analyze a folder full of streaming reports and billing statements, summarizes the key figures, and automatically generates a complete overview in an Excel spreadsheet as well as a pitch deck for management—all without having to manually copy and paste data from multiple files.
